purpose

“We have to rethink the fundamental principles on which we are educating our children…Creativity is as important as literacy in education and we should treat it with the same status.”

–Sir Ken Robinson, Internationally Recognized Leader in the Development of Education, Creativity, and Innovation

our purpose

This Summer Program for Creative Learning and Leadership promotes a holistic approach to creativity—one that explores meaningful connections between intuitive expression and explorative problem solving, imagination and the natural world, art history and creative myths and stories, our sensing bodies and one of the best media of all—food!  We believe that by fostering a broad, integrative understanding of creativity, our youth are empowered with one of the most sustainable learning capacities for the 21st century.

Our one-week program focuses on the magic of the multi-colored rainbow world. It will take place in a prepared environment of changing color installations, as well as outdoors where we will follow paths of exploration in nature.

our goals

Students will:
+ Experience a creative community where a sense of optimism, cooperative work, respect, and empathy are encouraged.

+ Discover how imagination is a powerful mediating element between our inner and outer worlds. They will feel secure in the freedom of creative expression and the clarity of their own vision.

+ See how they are earth keepers by improving their understanding of how they are connected to and dependent upon the natural world.

+ Develop sensory skills through an exploration of the five senses and concrete materials.

+ Build the capacity for innovation through design processes that encourage problem solving.

+ Deepen an appreciation of other cultures and traditions through myths and stories and a study of some great works from art history.

+ Enjoy the pleasure of thematic, creative snacks made from healthy, carefully prepared foods.
